Equipment
Engine One

Prairie du Sac's "first out", Engine One (E1) is a 2000 model E-One Pumper with a 1500 gpm single stage pump, 1000 gallon polytank and 20 gallon ejection foam system, seating 6 and compartments for our typical "first in" duties as well as anticipated mutual aid capacities.

This engine replaced a 1952 International 5000-gpm pumper.  Its purchase was budgeted over a 10 year span and eventually came in under bid.
Pumper 300, Current Main Fire Engine Pumper 300 is our main fire engine. This is the first vehicle out on fire calls. It carries about 500 gallons of water and will allow us to draft from the river if necessary. We have several types of fire extinguishers and can utilize foam. This vehicle roles out the door with a minimum of four people on board.
Ladder Truck Ladder Engine 302 has a 50 foot tele-squirt ladder. The ladder extends a maximum of 50 feet. At the end of the ladder is a water nozzle.  The water nozzle can be operated by remote control from the ground. This vehicle carries about 500 gallons of water and can also draft from the river or other sources of water. A crew of four firefighters respond with this rescue vehicle.
Rescue Squad Technical Rescue Squad 2 is a multi-functional truck. Originally it was an ambulance. We purchased it and modified it to be a light rescue truck. Squad 2 rolls on all types of rescues. The department is called on many rope rescue missions along the various hillsides around our area. We also respond with this vehicle for confined space rescues. This vehicle carries all of the necessary equipment to perform both of these types of duties.

Rescue Boat

Rescue Boat 303 has many different uses in our department. Its primary function is for water rescue. Our department covers the southern part of Lake Wisconsin as well as the Wisconsin River to just north of Arena. We also utilize the boat for fire suppression on the many islands along the river.

Hover Craft

The Hover Craft is utilized in ice rescue operations. No matter how thin the ice is we are able to get to a victim that is too far for ropes alone. The craft can hold as many as three people and is set up to be able to take a person on a backboard to safety.
